Globe repeats NYT JFK Error

Boston Globe reprint of NYT obituary of FBI agent James Hosty repeats a corrected mistake from the original.

James Hosty did not tell the Warren Commission about his destruction of Oswald's note. Hosty did not admit the destruction of the note until 1975 when it was reported in the Dallas Morning News.

No response to date. We've emailed the Globe a second time today at their address designated for reporting errors to the newsroom.

We also reached out to Boston.com editor Ron Agrella via Twitter, who put us in touch with Meredith Stern, the site's "customer advocate." The story has since been fixed. Stern explained by email:


"This correction appeared in the June 25 print edition of The Boston Globe. It should have run online as well, but our system for that did not work properly in this particular case.

"It appears that your e-mails to comments@globe.com were not answered due to an internal miscommunication."

Agrella also said on Twitter that he would look into why our email inquiries met with no response. We'll leave this bug report open temporarily to include his further feedback.
