More Than an Association

Bug Type:  Other

In his December 11, 2012 Opinionator column ("Pesticides: Now More Than Ever"), Mark Bittman writes, "I was impressed by a statement by the American Association of Pediatrics — not exactly a radical organization — warning parents of the dangers of pesticide and recommending that they try to reduce contact with them."  When I clicked the hypertext link for the "American Association of Pediatrics" the organization name plastered across the top of the website homepage read the "American Academy of Pediatrics."

I also wonder if Bittman should have written "pesticides" instead of "pesticide" since he noted that the AAP recommended avoiding contact with them. The AAP used the word "pesticides" in its actual warning.

The paper corrected both errors right away (adding correction notices to the article etc.) and a deputy oped editor emailed me to notify me about the correction and thank me for informing The Times about the mistake.
