Old News Is Not News

On March 28 The Japan Times published a Bloomberg View article by Ramesh Ponnurru entitled, "Starbucks urges baristas to talk about race," adding to the chorus of criticism directed at Starbucks "Race Together" campaign.

The problem is Starbucks quit its Race Together initiative a full six days before this article was printed in the Japan Times. I guess the Japan Times didn't get the memo (or the relevant Starbucks press release dated March 22). If it had, I'm sure it might have rethought the headline or in some way updated this oped which appeared in at least one outlet over a week before it hit the pages of The Japan Times as a pressing issue of the day.

I guess I didn't have to mention the Japan Times by name so many times. I wish I could edit at least one of them out.

There was also a March 23 Japan Times article entitled, "Starbucks baristas stop writing ‘Race Together’ on cups." I guess nobody read it.
