Surreptitious Summits

It seems like surreptitious summits are popping up across the media landscape. An August 18 Boston Globe article entitled, "New park layout sneak peak," led with this equally stealthy statement: "Selectmen got a sneak peak at the layout of the new WWII Veterans Memorial Nature Trails, which residents can access through the bike paths off Branch Street." I'm sure the Boston Globe  meant to say "sneak peek" but some how a "sneak peak" slipped by the editors' eagle eyes. Globe, beware the sneaky peaks of this world. They're everywhere!

BTW, there is a Twitter bot known as "Stealth Mountain" (@StealthMountain) that will automatically "alert twitter users that they typed sneak peak when they meant sneak peek." It's bringing accuracy to new heights one peak at a time.
